Free yourself from the stress, confusion and chaos of running or starting your small business!

Developing a synergistic lifestyle and business allows you to be your true self- with no apologies. It doesn’t feel fake or put on- it’s just you, operating in your zone of excellence.

All the individual peices of your life (personal and business) align to create one heck of an existence in which it all makes sense – in a way that when it is all together creates something more than each of the individual parts.  The elements work together and even compliment each other.  Trust me – this balance can be difficult to attain and hard to maintain once you find it.  Life throws curveballs at you… As a free gift to you – to help you on a journey to a life of synergy – here is your jump start tool kit. Download it now for tips and tools to determine what is truly important to you and how to start attracting and gaining your own personalized synergy.

Here is an example of a synergistic environment, which can be replicated in your life.  Think of a glass bowl full of plants. In order for all those plant to co-exist in harmony they all need the right amount of light, levels of water that don’t drown them and correct temperature in order to grow in harmony.  If one plant gets too much or too little of these simple needs they might die off, if one plant in the bowl takes too much of the nutrients which ends up offsetting the balance of the mini eco-system.

The analogy:

Your life = the bowl

Nutrients = your resources. (Time, money, efforts, marketing, etc…)

The plants = your important items. (Self care, Education, Family, Business, Socializing)

The ecosystem = your synergy life.

You control the nutrients.

Oh crap. I f***ed up. What do I do now?

It’s happened to the best of us…  A mess up. Why does this happen?  There could be many reasons:

  • You have too much on your plate and this slipped through the cracks.
  • You are operating outside your zone of excellence (check back in the future for a post on your ‘zone of excellence’)
  • You just gave up on a project because it didn’t interest you any more.
  • Your self care has fallen to the wayside and you were not operating at 100%.
  • There was a miscommunication between staff members.
  • We just plain messed up.

Guess what? It’s happen to all of us. And most likely you’ll mess up again in your lifetime.  WE ARE ALL HUMAN. No one is perfect. So before you go bury your head in the sand-or your whole body, here are a few tips and thoughts of what to do after you make a boo-boo.

  1. Breathe.  Take a walk.  Do what you can to calm yourself down and ground yourself.
  2. Accept responsibility. Own up to the mistake and apologize, immediately after you took care of set 1.
  3. Explain what happened but don’t use this as an opportunity to make up excuses and only do this after you’ve apologized=step 1 & 2.
  4. Do what you can to make it right. If your mistake cost your client money-use your money to make it right.  Although this can be hard to do- especially if you are a start up short on cash- this is probably the number 1 thing you can do to help your clients to trust you even more. It lets them know you stand behind your work and when a mistake happens you’ll do what you can to make it right.
  5. Try to avoid wallowing in self pity or hatred. Doing this can bring you more difficulties and makes you more prone to make more mistakes. Focusing on the negative often brings us more of what we don’t want.
  6. Take a break and evaluate why the mistake was made. Is it a problem in the system, in how much you have taken on? Do what you can to put systems in place, hire additional help or reminders on sticky notes around to ensure this doesn’t happen again.
  7. Let go of the mistake.  Remember again, we are all human. We are not perfect and often we are harder on ourselves that anyone else.  Even if it feels like the worst thing in the world at that moment-remember it can always be worse and now you have a plan to avoid this same mistake in the future.

Life Work Balance

Read that title again.  Sound familiar but not quite what you are used to hearing?

That’s right, I’ve switched it up. Instead of Work Life Balance, I like to call it Life Work Balance.  Work can be meaningful- providing financial security, add value to your life, give you purpose and help you to connect with other like minded individuals.

Unfortunately, when this Life Work Balance is more of a Work Life Balance (working all the time and squeezing in the life part) it leads to:

  • stress (physical and mental)
  • lack of balance
  • lack of self care
  • resentment towards work
  • lack of joy when completing the work
  • turning life into a rat race
  • limited time to spend on the things you really love
  • getting burnt out

Here are a few tips to getting that balance back where you’d like it to be:

  • find a job you love
  • start a business you love
  • ask for supportive people to encourage you to take breaks
  • schedule meaningful people time with the ones you value most
  • work hard, then play harder
  • take time away from technology
  • set up a self care regiment that works for you
  • take walks throughout your work day
  • meditate (or just sit quietly with your eyes closed)
  • get enough sleep (so that when you are working you are able to give your all)
  • eat well
  • focus on quality not quantity

What your apps say about you…

Technology is one of those things-it’s made so many aspects of life easier and quicker-however it also has the ability to take over our lives.

Think of all your screen time throughout the day. Time when your attention is focused on a electronic devise (iPhone, iPad, laptop, tv, video game, etc) instead of on people.

Todays tip is to evaluate all the apps on your phone-out with the ones that don’t add value. Which do you spend the most time on? Do they really add value to your life or are they just a time suck and energy drain?  I recently deleted the Facebook app from my phone and am loving it! Instead of spending time scrolling through updates I now have more time to connect with my family in the real world (instead of the virtual) and enjoy the here and now.

Our resources tend to be limited not infinite. Not only do we vote with our money but also our time. How can you spend your resources differently to better align with your values?

Why Synergize?

What is synergy?

The word synergy is a derived from Greek, meaning:  the interaction of elements that when combined produce a total effect greater than any of the individual elements or contributions.

True Synergy is achieved when your passions, talents, values are aligned in what you do and how you spend your resources.  When these align it creates a synergistic effect- here are a few of the benefits of a synergized business and life:

  1. greater levels of happiness
  2. work feels like play
  3. more kind to those around us
  4. less stress
  5. greater ease in your life and body
  6. ability to attract more of what you want- and repel what you don’t
  7. greater abundance
  8. ability to look at the greater picture
  9. more energy
  10. clients are people we’d want to be friends with anyway
  11. offer no apologies for being you!  You get to shine!
  12. incorporation of the things you love into your every day
  13. it’s easier to see the bigger picture instead of getting stuck on the little stuff

Here is my question to you:  What factors in you life don’t add to the greater picture of your life ? What can you get rid of for better harmony in your life?
